Denmark's national broadcaster DR has chosen the Microtech Gefell M930 as their standard speech microphone for all radio studios in DR BYEN.
DR conducted careful blind testing with 10 potential brands, each used to record 5 different voices. A wide variety of program and technical staff made listening evaluations of the recordings without knowing which microphones were which. Following this the mechanical properties and accessories were tested, and the preferred microphones were finally evaluated in the new studio environments.
Head of the project at Danish Broadcasting, Lars Lomborg, says: "The Microtech was already positioned as the clear number one after the blind test. And the compact size and elegant suspension makes them very easy to work with physically. Our various tests, including using and positioning multiple microphones close to each other, also proved that the M930 is ideal in that respect."
Danish Distributor Interstage A/S has just delivered a quantity of 120 M930 with EH93 suspensions to DR - with an option of additional deliveries later this year.
