SRP & Omni-8 mic holder

Unique spatial performance

  • Designed for 5.1 ITU speaker configuration
  • Accurate positioning of sources
  • Wide listening area
  • Records sound sources from all directions
  • Phantom images over 360° provide total immersion
  • Optimum use of the centre channel
  • Accurate recording of all directions, including azimuth and non-azimuth angles

Robust multichannel sound

  • Fully compatible down-mixing to any format (4.0, 3.0, 2.0, mono) with no loss of tonality
  • High quality extraction of the .1 channel
  • Integrates with panned sources (additional tracks or spot microphones)
  • Robust transmission through matrixing and coding

Unique spatial features

  • Optimised control of reverberation (distance factor)
  • Frontal coverage angle selection
  • True spatial monitoring

Using breakthrough High Spatial Resolution patented technology, the Trinnov SRP - Surround Recording Platform uses direction and intensity to resolve both direct and reflected sound sources arriving at the recording position.

The SRP accurately reconstructs the sound field in a high order of resolution and with a directivity index of 5 across the critical frontal soundstage.

The SRP has extensive, yet easy to use post-production power to provide robust and high quality multichannel content that fully supports all existing audio formats and coding.

How you can get to record using the Trinnov SRP

There are various options open to prospective users of the SRP.

The SRP can be used to process and optimise a live recording and produce 5 tracks of high resolution 5.0 surround sound. Alternatively, the eight outputs from the microphone array can be recorded dry for processing at a later time in post production. In an ideal world, where post production will follow, using the processor to monitor also during the recording can ensure that what is laid down is optimum for the job.

a)

Purchase, or hire the Omni-8 array and the processor platform together. Please call us for prices and rates.

The best option if surround monitoring is available during the recording (the optimum situation for live broadcast). This allows the recording engineer to monitor and adjust both the physical positioning of the microphone array and, with the processor, to adjust the spatial sensitivity between direct and reverberant fields, and sensitivity to reflections from outside the azimuth circle (.e.g. ceiling reflections).

b)

Purchase, or hire the Omni-8 Array. Please call us for prices and rates.

The post production way.the microphone outputs are laid down to eight separate tracks. Processing is done later, and is operationally identical from the processor’s point of view. We can do the processing for you, or hire the processor later yourself.

   Acquiring good sound and listening
accurately to what is happening -
 arguably the most important things
you ever do in professional audio

The Omni-8 array places eight omnidirectional microphones in an accurate physical relationship to each other, allowing the processor to resolve sound sources precisely in accordance with the ITU 5 specification.

The Omni-8 can accommodate omnidirectional microphones from your choice of manufacturer using standard or custom holder rings
